About the Team
The Applied AI team is focused on continuously deploying advanced AI systems into the world.
Tens of thousands of developers are already taking advantage of powerful AI models through our platform. By opening access to our AI models via an easy-to-use API, we are helping developers find creative ways to apply AI to a large number of useful applications.
In April 2022 we introduced DALL-E 2, AI that creates images from text. In 2021 we launched Copilot, powered by Codex, in partnership with GitHub – and developers love it. In 2020 we introduced GPT-3 which the MIT Technology Review listed as one of its 10 Breakthrough Technologies of the year (alongside mRNA vaccines).
In their first few months on the product team, current product managers have shipped ambitious product efforts: DALL-E 2, new versions of GPT-3 and Codex, and Fine-Tuning.
About the Role
Whether GPT-3 or Codex, DALL-E or commercializing other new, advanced AI research, you’ll help bring new technologies to market in delightful, easy-to-use products.
As a Product Manager, you will:
- Go from zero to launch in months, bringing leading AI research to market in delightful, easy-to-use products.
- Oversee all product decisions – from product strategy to prioritization, goal setting to sprint planning and execution.
- Develop a deep understanding of our customers’ problems, through rigorous data analysis and customer interviews, and bringing these insights back to the team.
- Orchestrate the work and navigate the difficult tradeoffs that arise when working on highly-technical problems with a cross-functional team.
- Help shape the product vision and strategy for OpenAI.
We’re looking for a blend of:
- Ability to make great product decisions despite ambiguity and uncertainty.
- Ability to align people towards an objective and orchestrate complex projects.
- Eagerness to take a hands-on approach and do whatever it takes to make the product and team successful.
- Entrepreneurial spirit and experience going from 0 to 1 with technical products.
- Curiosity, determination, and kindness.
