OpenAI’s Finance team is responsible for ensuring the organization is set up for long-term success in pursuit of its mission. Our Strategic Finance team works cross-functionally to set company and business strategy. As a Strategic Finance Associate, you will directly contribute to this initiative by owning all aspects of our financial models, leading critical initiatives, and providing senior management and the Board with actionable insight into the state of our operations. This role will report to the CFO.

Your responsibilities include:

• Building and maintaining OpenAI’s operating model and forecasting efforts
• Partnering with our Applied AI team on our overall business strategy and analyses to support key product-level questions, including pricing and positioning
• Analyzing, recommending, and overseeing critical projects and investments related to our research in partnership with technical team leads
• Supporting fundraising processes and investor relations
• Collaborating with leadership on materials for our Board of Directors
• Leading negotiations with key vendors and partners
• Assisting in financial diligence for potential acquisition targets, as needed
• Working with OpenAI Finance to analyze deviations in budgeted versus actual results

We are looking for a blend of: 

• BS/BA in Finance or Economics, or similar from a top university
• 2-4 years of experience in investment banking, consulting, private equity, venture capital, or a similar role in strategic finance
• Exceptionally strong analytical, financial modeling, and presentation skills
• Outstanding written and communication skills
• Strong working knowledge of US GAAP
