The Role

As the Director of Engineering for Government Solutions at TaxBit, you should be passionate about software of the people, by the people, for the people. You will help us manage our hyper growth engineering team and focus on solving some of the most complex problems in the fintech world.

You will lead our team to design software solutions in an effort to deliver amazing experiences and capabilities for our customers and clients in government, both at home and abroad. The ideal leader is someone who is humble, hungry and smart and runs after problems. They will be one who can inspire development teams, communicate clearly, and ensure that software is delivered in quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Hire and grow your teams with superior engineering talent, and coach and improve the performance of existing engineers in your organization
• Dive deep into technology and are on the forefront of the latest tools, technologies, and strategies and help evaluate, prototype, and introduce them to our team
• Build and maintain a culture of speed, excellence, collaboration, mentorship, and open feedback in engineering
• Work with others in Engineering Management to drive best practices in software development, testing, and production deployment
• Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to fix and improve products
• Own one or more business-critical systems, and working closely with cross-functional partners will participate in developing the engineering vision and roadmaps for your organization

Required Qualifications

• 15+ years of software development experience with a strong understanding of functional programming patterns and principles
• 7+ years engineering leadership 
• 5+ years as people manager
• Experience recruiting and leading teams that designed and operated critical government software solutions
• Ability to balance business needs and urgency while shipping high quality and pragmatic solutions 
• Ability to work in Python, Javascript and/or Clojure and have experience building cloud infrastructure (AWS) 

Desired Skills

• Experience managing teams that have designed and operated critical government software solutions
• 5+ years building SaaS cloud-based products 
• Experience managing sensitive data and working with security and compliance teams
• Fintech experience is a huge plus
