Some of our recent products include GPT-3 (named one of the 10 Breakthrough Technologies in 2021 by MIT Technology Review) and Codex (code generation model praised as “the single most mind-blowing application of machine learning I’ve ever seen”).

Talented people are the lifeblood of these advances, and OpenAI is looking for an Employment Counsel to own an array of responsibilities with high impact potential.

In this role, you will:

Lead all employment law related matters for OpenAI, from day to day counseling to strategic advice on longer term initiatives
Build our employment approach to international expansion
Build our worker practices for data labeling operations
Partner with our People team in devising strategies to attract, retain and develop talent, including complicated or high value hires
Partner with our People and Finance teams to help with employee equity matters
Partner with our People and Security team to develop and maintain standards to ensure the integrity and security of our staff
Monitor regulatory, legislative and governmental developments related to your areas

You might thrive in this role if you have:

At least 6 years of combined legal experience at a recognized law firm, investment management firm and technology company
Significant and diverse experience in employment counseling, including policy development, internal investigations, workforce risk management, employee privacy and litigation
Experience with international workforces and expansion, including advising on PEO/EOR structures and employment support of local subsidiaries
Exposure to on-demand or labor marketplace businesses
A love of technology and software
A desire to build and a strong sense of ownership
An interest in broadening your legal expertise and learning more about AI research
