We are looking for a Principal Engineer – Platform Engineering (BigData/Flink/Akka/Scala) to join the R&D team in India. This person should have a proven track record of technical leadership - owning, creating and delivering high quality design and code in a global yet startup environment. This  role is a hands-on technical expert role and not a techno managerial one. You will not only need to be an expert at coding but also significantly influence both the overall technical and functional evolution of our real-time analytics platform and products. You will need to show maturity and influence by mentoring other senior engineers, establish and champion technical standards & practices and resolving architectural conflicts efficiently. You should have established yourself as a subject matter expert with data platforms and big data storage technologies in particular. You are expected to collaborate with other principals and architects across the organizations to build consensus on technical blueprints, undertake PoCs, identify/eliminate tech debt and adopt inner-sourcing practices. You will ensure that technical artefacts produced are cost effective, performing, secure and scalable in design while being responsible for ensuring actual is what is planned during execution.

What You Bring to the Role:

• Minimum MS in CS or equivalent with strong technical foundation. PhD welcome.
• 15+ years of software engineering including 6+ years working in big data platforms.
• Thrive in a start-up environment and has a platform mindset.
• Excellent communicator. Demonstrated ability to succinctly communicate and describe complex technical designs and technology choices both to executives and developers.
• Expert in Scala coding.
• Expert in big data technologies like Druid, Spark, Hadoop, Flink (or Akka) & Kafka.
• Passionate about one or more engineering best practices that influence design, quality of code or developer efficiency.
• Familiar with building distributed applications using webservices and RESTful APIs.
• Familiarity in building SaaS platforms on either in-house data centres or public cloud providers..
