As a UX Research Manager, you will be embedded in the Product Design team reporting to the VP of Product Design. You will be expected to build a UX research team, quickly and independently design research studies to influence product roadmap, define best practices and processes for UX research in an agile environment and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to guide product development. Your work will be instrumental in defining the next-generation of BetterUp products, as you spearhead a human-centered decision-making process, and develop the most useful and usable product experiences for a global audience. 

What you’ll do:

  • Hire and build a team of high impact UX researchers around you.
  • Leading a team of UX researchers to generate research-driven insights drives decision-making for product development in partnership with designers, product managers, and engineers.
  • Quickly and independently design research studies that influence product roadmap and company strategy
  • Guide team  on programs of research and/or individual studies, and setting expectations for quality and impact
  • Accelerate team efficiency by improving processes, workflows and best UX research practices with cross-functional teams.
  • Work closely with the People Science team through frequent adaptation and progressive innovation in behavioral science, with a focus on upstream implementation of this work to generate the greatest possible influence and impact on product design and marketing.
  • Partner fully with cross-functional peers and partners including product management, design, engineering, analytics, solutions consulting, product researchers/research scientists, and product launch and marketing teams.

If you have some or all of the following, please apply:

  • Advanced degree (PhD or Masters) in Psychology, Organizational Behavior, Behavioral Economics, Data Science, Human Development, Health and Behavior, Human Centered Design, Sociology, Anthropology, or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of total relevant industry (non-academic) experience as a hands-on applied researcher. At least 1-2 years of leading/managing research teams.
  • Expertise in both applied quantitative and qualitative methods  (e.g., interview, focus groups, survey, RCTs, A/B testing, thematic analysis, ethnographic research).
  • Demonstrable experience partnering with product management, engineering, design, data science, data engineering, analytics, consulting, product marketing, product researchers/research scientists, and product launch.
  • Ability to lead and represent your team effectively through strong cross-functional relationships - substantiating the work and the decisions behind them, and advocating for a user-centered framing of company strategy and product building
  • Ability to quickly tailor and design effective, appropriate research methodologies within time and resource constraints.
  • Ability to create compelling presentations and confidently convey research insights through storytelling to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience influencing business and product decisions using research and data.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Active learner, actively seeking to expand and share knowledge and experience in ux research to best support the evolving needs of the team.
