Data represents the voice of Airbnb's users at scale. The Stream Infra team manages the infrastructure which enables Airbnb's core products and business to obtain and process data on a near-realtime basis in a reliable and scalable fashion. We provide a fully managed Distributed Messaging System, Stream Processing Platform, and Data Ingestion Platform (via Kafka, Flink, Spark, etc.) that makes it easy for developers to collect, transfer, and analyze high-volume data streams. 

Responsibilities:

Design and build systems to improve the reliability, performance, and cost-efficiency of data infrastructures, including both compute and storage. Write maintainable and self-documenting code, and perform code reviews. Work on and also contribute to open-source software, and have industry impact. 

Requirements:

BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experience.

5+ years of industry experience.

Expertise in Java or other JVM-based languages.

Experience working with Kafka, Flink, Spark, Hive, Kafka

Experience in building high performance distributed data-intensive systems.

Proactiveness, good communication and the ability to learn quickly. 

Ability to work in areas outside of your usual comfort zone.

The starting base pay for this role is between $190,000 and $245,000. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: education, experience, and skills. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
