About the Role

OpenAI is building some of the most innovative AI technologies of our time. We are looking for a Senior Tax Counsel to help lead partnership tax and structuring initiatives, and be a strategic advisor to leadership in legal, finance, operations, and people. Some of our recent products include  GPT-3 (named one of the 10 Breakthrough Technologies in 2021 by MIT Technology Review) and Codex (code generation model praised as “the single most mind-blowing application of machine learning I’ve ever seen”). 

In this role, you will:

  • Lead advising on all tax-related strategies for key transactions and our legal structure
  • Build our approach to tax-aware international expansion
  • Advise on matters related to potential AI investments
  • Assist with our nonprofit governance and management
  • Advise on employee equity matters

You might thrive in this role if you have: 

  • Have at least 8 years of combined legal experience at a recognized law firm, investment management firm and technology company
  • Have significant experience in partnership tax matters
  • Have some experience in corporate and international tax matters
  • Enjoy creative problem solving
  • A love of technology and software
  • A desire to build and a strong sense of ownership
